Ford OFCC Overhead Compass / Information Display – Troubleshooting Guide
Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired OFCC Overhead Compass Information Display and the problem is still happening.
Important: Please do not open/disassemble the overhead display—check vehicle power, grounds, and related wiring first.
- Step 1: Confirm installation
- Verify the overhead display connector is fully seated and locked
- Inspect for bent/pushed pins, loose terminals, or corrosion at the connector
- Ensure the harness isn’t pinched by trim pieces or pulled tight
- Step 2: Verify power and ground
- Check the related interior fuse(s) for the overhead console/display
- Confirm the unit has a solid ground (loose ground can cause blank/intermittent display)
- If the display resets when other accessories are used, suspect low voltage or a weak ground
- Step 3: Check interior lighting / dimmer inputs
- Verify the dash dimmer is working normally (if the display is “too dim” or seems off at night)
- Check for aftermarket LED conversions or wiring taps that may affect the illumination circuit
- Confirm the overhead console illumination isn’t being backfed by another circuit
- Step 4: If the display is blank, flickers, or works intermittently
- Inspect the overhead console area for moisture/water intrusion (common from roof/antenna leaks)
- Verify the connector pins have good tension (spread terminals can cause intermittent power loss)
- Re-check the harness where it routes along the headliner for pinched/damaged wires
- Step 5: If compass readings are wrong or don’t change
- Drive the vehicle in an open area away from large metal structures (parking garages can skew readings)
- Check for added aftermarket electronics near the overhead console (radar detector hardwire, light bars, dash cams) that can interfere
- If the battery was recently disconnected, the compass may need a short drive to re-learn
- Step 6: If temperature/other info (if equipped) is incorrect
- Verify the vehicle’s ambient temp sensor and wiring (a bad sensor can look like a display problem)
- Compare readings to scan data or another known-good measurement if available
- Course of action
- If the issue persists, contact UpFix with your VIN, exact symptoms (blank/dim/flicker/incorrect readings), and any related codes so we can help narrow it down. Call or email for assistance.
