Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler NAV Radio Repair Troubleshooting Guide
Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired Uconnect touchscreen display and the problem is still happening.
Important: Please do not open/disassemble the unit—use these vehicle-side checks only.
- Step 1: Confirm the exact symptom
- Touch doesn’t respond / delayed response
- Ghost touch / random presses
- Screen is black/blank but radio may still have sound
- Reboots, freezes on logo, or loops during startup
- Flicker/lines/white screen/intermittent image
- Step 2: Confirm you installed the correct part
- Verify you reinstalled the display/touchscreen (not the radio “brain,” amplifier, or separate infotainment module)
- Confirm connectors are fully seated and the lock tabs are engaged
- If the vehicle had prior radio work, confirm the screen type matches the vehicle’s Uconnect version and trim
- Step 3: Do a safe reset/power cycle
- Key off, open/close driver door, wait 2–3 minutes, then restart
- If the screen only returns after a full power cycle, suspect a wake/enable or power feed issue (vehicle-side)
- Step 4: Reseat connectors and inspect terminals
- Unplug/replug the screen connectors and confirm no pins are bent or pushed back
- Check for corrosion/moisture in the connector and at the screen mounting area
- If touching/moving the harness changes the symptom, suspect poor terminal tension or a harness fault
- Step 5: Check power supply stability and fuses
- Verify battery/charging health (low voltage commonly causes rebooting/blank display)
- Check infotainment-related fuses (radio/infotainment/display/USB) and confirm they have power in the correct key positions
- If the issue happens during crank, retest with a strong battery or jump support connected
- Step 6: Separate “touch issue” vs “video/backlight issue”
- Touch-only problems (ghost touch/no touch but image is fine) usually point to touch layer/grounding/connector seating
- Image problems (black screen/flicker/lines) often point to screen power/backlight/video signal or upstream module output
- Step 7: Scan for codes and network communication faults
- Scan for radio/infotainment and communication codes (lost comm, internal fault, config mismatch)
- If multiple modules show lost communication, address vehicle-side power/ground/CAN issues first
- Step 8: If the issue started after recent work
- Re-check anything recently touched (battery disconnect, radio swap, dash removal, accessory install)
- Aftermarket splices (remote start, alarms, audio upgrades) near infotainment wiring commonly cause intermittent Uconnect screen issues
