MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2004 The headlights and the rear running lights frequently turn on when the light switch is set to automatic. The headlamps turn on when I flip the switch to the "on" position, but the tail running lights do not. All work perfectly on occasion. Both the signal lights and the brake lights always function properly. Is the LCM in charge of everything here? This vehicle, which is still in good shape, belongs to me personally.

The issue could be the MFS or the LCM. If you change the MFS and have the same issues then I would start looking at incoming power, fuses, wiring, pins, and plugs. If you have the same issue then I would recommend that the LCM be repaired.
