The PCM in the 2006 Ford Escape can damage coils if it pulls the low side of the coil to ground for a lengthy period of time (as opposed to the brief pulses to ground it uses to fire the coil). Perhaps the time required to burn a coil is less than what one would expect. Because of the abrupt nature of your problem, I'm wondering if you have that many faulty coils. Bad coils, on the other hand, are known to harm the PCM quickly by sending back an inductive high voltage kick when the coil is broken. I took it to the dealer. and up with charred PCM Can you fix this part?
