Tesla Model S/X 12.3" LCD IPC — Troubleshooting Guide
Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired (Tesla Model S/X 12.3" LCD IPC) and the problem is still happening.
Important: Please do not open/disassemble the cluster or attempt internal repairs.

Step 1: Confirm the concern is the IPC (not the center screen)

The IPC is the driver display behind the steering wheel.

If only the center touchscreen is acting up, this guide won’t apply.

Step 2: Perform a full vehicle reboot

Do a standard reboot first, then a full power cycle if the symptom remains.

If the display comes back temporarily, suspect vehicle-side power/software rather than the IPC.

Step 3: Verify 12V system health

A weak 12V battery/DC-DC charging issue can cause blank screen, flicker, resets, and boot loops.

If symptoms worsen after sitting or in cold temps, prioritize 12V diagnosis.

Step 4: Check fuses related to the instrument panel/driver display

Verify the related fuses are good (use a meter, not visual).

If a fuse is open again after replacement, stop and inspect for a short.

Step 5: Inspect connectors and harness at the IPC

Confirm the connector is fully seated and latched.
-
Look for bent pins, pushed-back pins, corrosion, moisture, or signs of overheating.

Step 6: Watch for network/power symptoms

If multiple systems act up at the same time (screen + steering controls + alerts), suspect vehicle-side power or network issues.

Aftermarket accessories tied into power/ground can cause intermittent resets.

Step 7: Match symptoms to likely causes

Blank/no boot: 12V supply issue, fuse/power feed, connector seating, or vehicle software state.

Flicker/dim: 12V instability, ground issue, or connector/pin fitment.

Resets while driving: 12V/DC-DC event, loose connector, or intermittent power feed.

Step 8: If the issue is intermittent, reproduce it safely

With the car safe/parked, lightly wiggle the harness near the IPC and watch for flicker/reset.

If movement changes the symptom, focus on connector/pin tension or harness damage.
