Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired PS5 and the problem is still happening. Please do not open/disassemble the console again—check the HDMI cable, display input, USB devices, and basic console settings first.
Step 1: Confirm all connections
- Make sure the HDMI cable is fully seated in both the PS5 and the TV/monitor
- Confirm the power cable is fully connected and the console is powering on normally
- If checking a USB issue, make sure the USB device is fully inserted and not loose
- Verify nothing is putting side pressure on the HDMI or USB ports
Step 2: Rule out the cable or accessory
- Test with a known-good HDMI cable
- Try a different TV/monitor and a different HDMI input
- For USB issues, test with a known-good USB device such as a controller, flash drive, or charging cable
- If only one accessory fails, the issue may be with that device or cable rather than the console
Step 3: Identify the symptom type
- No video signal: make sure the correct display input is selected and test with another HDMI cable/display
- Damaged HDMI port: inspect for a loose connection, bent shell, or cable that does not seat properly
- Front USB ports not working: test both front ports with more than one known-good device
- Rear USB ports not working: test both rear ports with more than one known-good device
Step 4: Check video output basics
- Power the console completely off, then restart and watch for any image at boot
- If the display stays black, try booting into Safe Mode and check whether video appears there
- If Safe Mode appears but normal video does not, review display resolution/settings
- If there is still no image on multiple displays with multiple cables, the fault is more likely console-side
Step 5: Check for physical interference or handling issues
- Inspect the HDMI and USB openings for debris, broken plastic, or signs of a forced connection
- Make sure the console is sitting flat and no cable is being pulled sharply to one side
- If the issue started after the console was moved, dropped, or a cable was forced in, re-check the port area carefully
- If a port feels loose or the cable wiggles excessively, stop using it to avoid further damage
Step 6: If the issue started after recent work or setup changes
- Re-check any recent cable swaps, monitor/TV changes, or accessory changes
- Remove unnecessary USB accessories and test again with only the basics connected
- If the issue began after changing display settings, test with another screen that supports common resolutions
- If the issue began after a console move, inspect for strain on the HDMI or USB connections
Course of action
- If the issue persists, contact UpFix with your order number, exact symptoms, and which steps you already tried
- Be specific about whether the issue is HDMI related, no video signal, front USB, or rear USB
- If possible, include whether the console powers on normally and whether you tested with known-good cables and devices
