My temperature control on my 2006 BMW X5 will occasionally (every couple of months) stop working. Because the fan isn't working, the complete temperature control system isn't working. (The inverse is also true.) The odd thing is that the bars in the display seem normal, and all controls function normally.
Giving it one last shot... someone out there has to know something...
