When I initially drive away after starting, my 2005 Sorento 2.5 CRDi XE produces a brief grunting noise from the steering column, steering rack region. After then, there is no more noise, until I apply the emergency brake, in which case it groans once more as I come to a halt. The grunt is rather brief, and the steering column also experiences a very tiny tremor.
After the initial startup, it always acts in this manner. My dealer has offered a variety of excuses, such as the steering rack "valve" or the ABS motor, but because it doesn't seem to be a life-threatening issue, he refuses to replace it and claims that it's "normal" and "they all do it."
anybody have comparable everyday grunts?
