How can I tell if the vent hood control board module is bad/faulty/defective?   42 Relevance 4 years ago UpFix Tech Support Vent Hood
Common Question:How can I tell if the vent hood control board module is bad/faulty/defective? Answer:One way to test to see, if the control board module is bad you would want to check for voltage going into the control board module and for voltage out. If there is voltage to the control board module, but there is no voltage coming out of the control board module then the module is faulty and would need to be replaced or repaired. However, sometimes the control board will power up, but certain components on the board could be bad and it will not work correct ...
Viking downdraft hood vent model DIPR160 stopped working   32 Relevance 2 years ago Fabian H HVAC/Furnace
After a power outage, our Viking downdraft hood vent model DIPR160 stopped working. I've learned from my investigation that the PV300121 control board has components that are broken. I'm quite curious to know if you can fix this board; pictures are attached. I've located the area that appears to be affected and highlighted it in the picture with a zoomed-out view that clearly shows that detail. I was going to just send a purchase request through the website, but I decided to contact you first to make sure. I appreciate you helping me with this repair. ...

Thank you for reaching out and sending photos. I do see the damage on the back side that may cause issues however, we would need a closer look at the board to determine how far the damage has gone. If you have a part number from that component we can see if it's available. Yes, to a degree, most components can be replaced tested, and reverse engineered. Unless the part is unavailable, the ICs are not receiving and sending signals, or the board is too damaged, we should be able to fix the issue. Please use the link if you choose to send it in. We appreciate the opportunity.
Universal Climate Control Repair   11 Relevance 3 weeks ago Ernest Other (automotive part)
Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired (Universal Climate Control module) and the problem is still happening.Important: Please do not open/disassemble the module. Step 1: Confirm what symptom you still have Display/backlight issues (dim, dark, missing segments) Buttons/knobs not responding Fan speed stuck / fan control not working Hot/cold control not responding Intermittent power loss / resets Step 2: Do a full reset first Key OFF, remove key, wait 2 minutes Disconnect battery for 5 minutes, reconnect Start engine and re-test (low voltage during crank can cause false symptoms) Step 3: Verify fuses and power feed Check HVAC/Climate/Blower and IGN/ACC fuses (interior and under-hood if applicable) If any fuse is blown, replace once and re-test If it blows again, stop and inspect for a vehicle-side short before replacing more fuses Step 4: Re-seat connectors and inspect pins (most common after reinstall) Unplug/re-plug all connectors until fully seated/locked Look for bent pins, pushed-out terminals, corrosion, or loose pin fit Make sure the connector isn’t partially latched or cocked at an angle Step 5: Check dash illumination / dimmer settings (for dim/dark displays) Confirm the dash dimmer is not turned down Verify other interior/dash lights behave normally If multiple dash lights are abnormal, suspect the vehicle illumination/dimmer circuit Step 6: If buttons/knobs still don’t respond Confirm the unit powers on consistently (screen/LEDs change) If the issue began right after trim/console work, re-check any connectors disturbed Lightly wiggle the harness behind the unit while powered (changes indicate loose terminals or harness strain) Step 7: If the blower/fan speed is still wrong (vehicle-side checks) Fan stuck on high or one speed: inspect blower resistor / blower control module (power transistor) Fan intermittent: inspect blower motor current draw and blower connector for heat damage No fan at all: verify blower motor power/ground and blower relay (if equipped) Step 8: If temperature or mode won’t change (vehicle-side checks) Air stuck on defrost/floor/vents: inspect mode door actuator and linkage No heat: confirm coolant level/thermostat operation (engine must reach temp) No A/C: check A/C pressure switch, compressor engagement, and refrigerant charge Clicking from dash: often an actuator gear/door binding issue, not the control head Step 9: If the unit loses power or resets while driving Confirm mounting screws are installed and snug (ground/reference stability) Inspect the harness for tension/pinch points behind the radio/climate stack Inspect the connector terminals for looseness (spread terminals cause vibration dropouts) Step 10: Still not resolved? If fuses, connector seating, and vehicle power/ground check out, the remaining common causes are vehicle-side (blower resistor/control module, actuators, dimmer/illumination, wiring/grounds). A qualified local shop may be needed for hands-on diagnosis.
RE: Dryer code E 64   11 Relevance 4 years ago UpFix Tech Support Laundry Dryer
Thank you for contacting us. This is an error code that indicates a problem with the heater circuit. Because the dryer is heating, this might be deceiving. Check the element for damage and shorting to the covering, as well as the wiring for loose connections and burned wires. Clean the exhaust vent and hood, Then the main control board for any loose connections. After checking everything and all looks good. But you still have the same problem, then the control board is most likely faulty. We can repair faulty control boards. Here is a link
