My mechanic installed a replacement transmission in my 08 cx9. Everything works fine but sometimes the car doesn't want to shut off and some of the dash lights don't turn on. Does the TCM need to be reprogrammed for my specific vin? The replacement transmission came out of a 09. I don't have the original TCM

Mazda does have quite a few varying part numbers for any given module and not all of them are interchangeable no matter how close the model years are. The replacement TCM should be reprogrammed in-vehicle with Mazda IDS to change the VIN of the module make it work and then perform a re-adaptation.
