Repair Service For GE Oven / Range Control Board error code F7

y son installed the repaired control panel /board assembly on 7/11. Powered the oven and checked all control panel button functions except Clean. All functioned normally. midday 7/12 , the Bake function displayed without operator input. The display: BAKE 350 with a flashing SET. This was followed with PUSH Start, Engaging START started the oven to heat. The timer buttons were non functional. Clear/Off turned the BAKE and oven heater off. When the START was not engaged, the PUSH would time out and reset the BAKE. The BAKE- PUSH (timeout) cycle continued until eventually error code F7 appeared, at which point I turned oven power off. Next morning 7/13, I powered the oven and all functions operated normally, so I baked a pie at 375F for 90 minutes with no problems noted. Later in the day, the BAKE-PUSH - timeout cycling started again, eventually going to code F7. Again I powered the oven off. On 7/14 mid-morning, I powered the oven and all functions operated normally for about 30 minutes, before the BAKE-PUSH - timeout cycling started again, When in this erratic cycle, the only buttons working are the START and CLEAR/OFF. The oven is now in an powered Off state. I will try again 7/15. Need HELP.

Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like it can be either the board or the keypad. The code specifically indicates there is an issue with the keypad. More than likely the keypad will need to be replaced. The board repair takes care of the issues listed below however, some of the issues will persist until the keypad is replaced. A faulty keypad can give false symptoms similar to the ones you are receiving. Below I have provided a link that can get you started should you choose for us to service your board. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Thank you.

Thank you for getting back to us.  If you have checked the following and confirmed the issue is the board then we can take another look under warranty.

======== - Bake\broil Element
When the heating element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity it should measure 10-75 Ohms . If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.

====== = Thermal Fuse
If the oven gets too hot, the thermal fuse will engage and send a signal to turn off power to the oven. If the thermal fuse has blown, the oven will not heat. To determine if the thermal fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test the fuse for continuity. If the thermal fuse does not have continuity, then this will need to be replaced.

========  Loose, Burnt or dirty Wire Connection
Check the wiring harness, These wires commonly burn out near the heat source. Inspect the wires leading to the element. Ensure they are clean, this can be done with water and vinegar. If a wire is burned out, it will often be visibly burnt. Sometimes a good cleaning of components can make a difference.

========= Thermsistor\temp sensor
A failing oven sensor can send misleading readings to the control causing it to behave incorrectly, resulting inaccurate cooking temperatures or fault codes on the|isplay. A failed oven sensor is most often responsible for an F3 or F4 error message on the control display. In most cases, the sensor is at fault.

======= Door lock mechanism\ switch
Depending on your stove\oven you may have a door lock mechanism. This is known to cause faults in units and give false readings as to the actual issue. Check the wiring and the mechanism itself. If you detect an issue then replace it.

Given the previously described issues with the control panel and control board. I again tested the unit. After having the oven with no power connected for 72 hours, I re-powered the oven on 18 July at 8:00 pm PDT. All control buttons functioned okay. I set the BAKE at 170 F. The oven achieved temperature at 8:06 with no issue. At 8:20, with the oven still set at BAKE and at the set temperature of 170F, the BAKE SET indicator started flashing. The flashing SET went off at 8:22 with no operator intervention. The flashing SET function repeated the cycle again at 8:24. With the oven still in the BAKE mode and at set temperature and with the SET not flashing, I checked the timer function. No issue. I set CLEAR/OFF to end the BAKE at 8:30. All control buttons functioned okay. Still okay at 8:44, then at 8:46, The BAKE/flashing SET at 350F started again without operator input. At that point, I powered the oven OFF.
Given the number of components replaced on the control board during the initial repair cycle, I suspect a cold solder joint or a problem with the control panel BAKE button. During my ownership of the oven, convection BAKE was the button of choice. The BAKE button received almost no use, thus the button should be okay.
I am ready to return the control assembly to your facility for additional failure investigation. It is imperative that the technician check all functions when control assembly is first powered. I expect all functions to operate without issue. Leave the assembly powered for a minimum of 30 minutes. Check every 30 minutes to see if the error reoccurs.
