Important: Use this guide if you reinstalled your repaired (VW/Audi Lane Assist Module) and the problem is still happening.
- Step 1: Confirm the exact warning/message
- Examples: ACC/Braking Guard Unavailable, Active Lane Assist Unavailable, Cruise Control Disabled
- Note if you have camera-related DTCs such as “No Camera Vision” or “Camera error detected”
- Step 2: Verify battery voltage and charging health
- Low voltage can disable ADAS features and trigger multiple driver-assist warnings
- If the battery was recently dead or replaced, fully charge it and re-test
- Step 3: Perform a full vehicle scan and save the codes
- Scan all modules (not just engine)
- Record codes in: camera/lane assist, ABS, steering, radar (if equipped), and BCM/gateway
- Clear codes and see what returns immediately
- Step 4: Check the camera area and windshield condition
- Inspect windshield in front of the camera for cracks, heavy tint, haze, stickers, or dirt
- Make sure the camera housing is seated correctly and not loose
- If the windshield was replaced recently, calibration is commonly required
- Step 5: Inspect connectors and wiring to the lane assist camera/module
- Check for corrosion/green pins, moisture, bent/pushed-out pins, loose terminals, or pin fitment issues
- Reseat connectors fully and confirm latches lock
- Inspect harness routing for pinch points or rubbing damage
- Step 6: Check for water intrusion (very common on camera modules)
- If the issue happens after rain/car wash or high humidity, suspect moisture in the camera area
- Inspect for moisture marks around the camera mount/housing and nearby connectors
- Step 7: Verify fuses and power/ground
- Check fuses related to ADAS/camera/lane assist systems
- Verify power and ground integrity to the module (weak ground can cause intermittent “no camera” or “static interference” faults)
- Step 8: Confirm required calibrations are completed
- If the camera/module was replaced, windshield replaced, suspension alignment changed, or front end collision work performed
- Lane assist/camera calibration is typically required before features will enable
- If calibration fails, it usually points to vehicle-side issues (mounting, windshield, wiring, power/ground, or alignment)
- Step 9: Rule out related system faults that can disable driver assist
- ABS/ESC faults, steering angle sensor faults, or radar faults (if equipped) can disable ACC/Lane Assist
- If you have these codes, address them first before suspecting the camera/module
- Step 10: Re-test and re-scan
- After each change, clear codes and road-test if safe/possible
- Re-scan and note which codes return immediately vs. only after driving
- If the issue is still present
- Call or email UpFix for the fastest help, especially if the issue happens immediately after install
