This guide applies only if your rebuilt EKPM3 is still having issues after our repair service.

1. Check Power & Ground

  • Verify battery voltage at EKPM3 power input.

  • Confirm solid ground connection at the module.

  • Inspect fuse for the fuel pump control module (commonly F70/F73 depending on model).

2. Check Fuel Pump Operation

  • Apply 12V directly to the fuel pump to confirm pump runs.

  • If pump does not run with direct power → pump issue, not EKPM3.

3. Inspect Wiring & Connectors

  • Look for corrosion or heat damage at EKPM3 connector.

  • Check continuity from EKPM3 → fuel pump.

  • Inspect LIN wire for breaks or shorts.

4. Verify DME Commands

  • Using a scan tool, activate the fuel pump (actuation test).

  • If DME commands the pump but no output from EKPM3 → suspect EKPM3.

5. Check for Related DTCs

  • 2FBA / 2FBF – Fuel pump not powering on

  • 2AAF – Fuel pump driver failure

  • 29F2 / 29F3 – Low fuel pressure

  • 1F05 / 1F06 – EKPS communication fault

  • 2FBE – Module overheating

6. Look for Overload or Short Conditions

  • A shorted fuel pump can blow the EKPM3 MOSFET driver.

  • Check pump current draw; abnormal high load points to a failing pump.

7. Battery & Voltage Stability

  • Weak battery or voltage dips may trigger EKPM3 shutdown.

  • Ensure battery is fully charged and IBS system is healthy.

8. After Module Replacement or Repair

  • Clear all EKPS/DME codes.

  • Perform fuel pump relearn/initialization if required (some models).

  • Test-drive to confirm stable fuel pressure and no return faults.
