2014 Smart car FORTWO Problems with the odometer

2014 Smart car FORTWO Problems with the odometer speedometer.
The question is that we have just acquired a gently used eBay 2nd instrument cluster with 37k miles and the present cluster in ours has a higher mileage at around 75k miles. If we were to send this replacement for a mileage correction would you need the original cluster as well because of a potential ECM / VIN issues as well.
We know the norm is for you to receive the exact cluster that came fr om that car vs. a whole new unit.
Our concern is if we send you this replacement that we'll have ECM recognition issues/errors if there may be a chip etc. on the cluster board itself.
Please advise as if this replacement we received yesterday can be sent to you or will you require both the original and the replacement to make this an easy plug & play with no reprogramming needed.
Obviously we wish to avoid any additional expense having to have Mercedes service being involved.
Appreciate any clarification you can provide before we ship to to Buford, GA.
I know your website states you only require the cluster but since we are not sending the original cluster but a replacement and if so may inaccurate ECM/VIN info being stored on the board was the concern
Let s know how this should be handled !

The cluster will need to be programmed to the vehicle first. Any module that was replaced will need to be VIN encoded to the vehicle, then we can do the mileage correction. The original cluster is not needed. Mileage is stored in the cluster. You can simply send the one that needs to be adjusted

Thought so & appreciate the quick response..

How exactly do you perform this programming to the new replacement cluster to the vehicle first.

Per below, you stated any module that was replaced will need to be VIN encoded to the vehicle.

Not sure of the VIN encoding process to do so before sending it to you ? Star Diagnostic System ?

Would this be a Mercedes service process which is what we were trying to avoid ?

If so can any shop with the VIN programming SDS device do so ?

There are a couple of ways we do mileage. It depends on the vehicle. For your unit, we will either program the cluster's mileage through the pins on the back or we may have to go inside and program the chip. You can either go to Mercedes or a specialty\tuning shop in your area and they can program the cluster to the vehicle. VIN encoding only needs to be done if the part and\or module are not original to the vehicle.
