My washing machine won't go into high spin mode. I had to run it through slow spin a couple of times, and the items were still somewhat damp. Is this a problem with the control board?

No its does not sound like the main control board is faulty. If the unit won't spin at high speed, it's most likely a motor problem with bad high-speed gearing.
