I'm the workshop foreman at Porsche. One of my technicians was attempting to replace the gauge faces on this instrument cluster with aftermarket colored ones and when (unnecessarily) removing the coolant temperature / fuel level gauge assembly from the cluster, the ribbon cable connector came off the circuit board. It needs to be soldered back on. I would also be interested if you guys can verify that all of the needles have been positioned correctly, and if not, reposition them, but the re-installation of the ribbon cable connector is the most pressing matter. We do not normally agree to attempt to do this sort of work however it was a new advisor mixed with a new technician and neither knew any better.
Thank you for contacting UpFix. Yes, it looks like this is something we can repair. Please send it in, and we will take a look Those clusters are extremely delicate. putting that connector is the easy part - Its the ribbon cable thats hard to fix. If its already torn theres not much we can do.
