Advice on ECU replacement for a 2010 535i, new member here. Asking for a girlfriend since her car died, and the dealer claims it's "the computer" and wants $5,000 to replace it . Does this sound correct? Is it possible to get a refurbished ECU? The car is generally in fantastic condition, having only 100k miles and no evident mechanical difficulties. If feasible, the owner would want to keep driving the automobile for another three or four years.
