Today I took my 2005 Audi A4 1.8T to the technician. He stated that one or two of the coils are faulty, but that this is due to a faulty ground in the electrical/wiring system. He offered to replace the faulty coils and rewire the car for $300. This seemed reasonable to me, so I left the car with him.
He just called to inform me that my ECM had been damaged. He claimed to be able to "re-solder several joints" and fix the ECM. This is something I've never heard of. He charged me an extra $500 for this fix. I'm a little short on funds right now, and $800 for a repair bill seems a little steep. And I need to get my automobile back.
Thank you for your help, gentlemen!
