My dishwasher is a Jenn-Air JDB2150AWP. I'm attempting to remove the impeller for repair, however turning the screw in the center of the impeller does not release it, but instead spins something below the filter (the motor?). Holding the black plastic impeller still does not assist since it rotates freely around the screw. Any ideas for removing the impeller?
Get yourself a little mirror.
To see the motor and other elements, remove the FRONT lower panels.
The slots and fins from the motor armature can be seen with the mirror under the motor.
Get a slot-compatible Allen hex key.
Guide the little bent end of the Allen hex key up into the slot with the help of the mirror, maintaining upward pressure.
Remove the impeller screw slowly with the help of another person; mine was counterclockwise.
The Allen wrench will travel slightly until it reaches the bottom of the motor housing and the end of the slot.
The impeller screw should be removed.
The oblong slot in the COMPOSITE impeller has most likely blown out, preventing you from applying pressure to remove the screw.
Hope this helps
