My dishwasher was started yesterday night, and when we woke up this morning, the display showed 30, as in 30 minutes remaining, and it sounded like it was still emptying. The tub is bone dry. When you turn off the power to the machine, it simply continues daining; nothing changes. If I open the door, the drain continues unabated. When the door is opened, the machine usually comes to a halt.
I did observe that when the power is cycled, I get approximately 3 seconds after it comes on to pick options, but no matter what I select, it goes back to the 30 minute timer and drains nonstop.
Any ideas where to start?
A float switch is located at the bottom of the dishwasher to detect water leaks.
You must remove the dishwasher and search the very bottom pan. There is a leak someplace if there is water. It's possible that there's no water because of a faulty float switch.
