When the start button on the dishwasher was pressed, it would not go into the wash cycle. It would start the shut-down cycle with draining, just like if you pressed the start button for 30 seconds. I replaced the control unit with a used one three months ago, which solved the problem and made the dishwasher run correctly. It is now repeating the same behavior. Why was the control unit only able to correct it for a few months?

Yes, you have a faulty control board again. When you buy a used module you may run into the same problem. We do rebuild control boards with warranty.
