I've experienced a few dead pixels in the temperature control since I bought the 2006 X5. However, I did remove the display from the X5 and clean the contacts to see if it made a difference. When I first put it back, the display was blotchy, so I took it out again, realigned everything, and replaced it.
Nothing works anymore. Even with the ignition turned off, all of the buttons are illuminated, and the fan is running and pumping air from the vents. It makes no difference what buttons you press. To make matters worse, when I switch on the ignition, the display does nothing but provide a small amount of backlight. I examined it with INPA and PA soft, and there were no mistakes.
