This guide applies only if your rebuilt ACM is still having issues after our repair service. Please complete these checks before assuming the module is faulty.
1. Confirm the symptom
-
Verify concern: no power, no sound, distorted sound, intermittent audio, or unresponsive buttons/knobs.
-
Try multiple sources (FM/AM, Bluetooth, AUX, USB, CD).
-
Set balance/fader to center and volume to a normal level.
2. Check fuses and power feeds
-
Locate all radio/ACM and audio-related fuses (dash and under-hood).
-
With key ON, confirm:
-
Battery (B+) voltage at ACM power pin
-
Ignition/ACC power present if the system uses a switched feed
-
Good ground at ACM ground pins (voltage drop test if possible)
-
3. Inspect connectors and wiring at the ACM
-
Unplug ACM and inspect for:
-
Bent, pushed-out, or corroded pins
-
Melted plastic or heat damage
-
Loose or partially latched connectors
-
-
Check harness for pinched, rubbed-through, or stretched wiring behind the radio and in the dash.
4. Speaker and amplifier path checks
-
If only some speakers are dead:
-
Verify those speakers and their wiring by swapping with a known good speaker when possible.
-
Check continuity from ACM speaker outputs to each speaker.
-
-
If an external amplifier or ANC module is present, make sure it has power, ground, and proper connections; bypass it temporarily if possible to confirm the fault path.
5. Network and control checks
-
Scan the vehicle with a capable scan tool for ACM-related DTCs.
-
Confirm the ACM appears on the network (CAN / MOST / LIN depending on model).
-
For vehicles with a separate display/APIM:
-
Make sure the APIM or display module is powering up and communicating.
-
Confirm that the ACM responds to steering wheel and panel controls in the scan tool data.
-
6. Source / input checks
-
For Bluetooth/USB/AUX issues:
-
Test basic FM/AM first to separate radio tuner issues from external-source issues.
-
If only one source fails, suspect wiring or the external device/module rather than the ACM.
-
-
For backup camera or chime issues:
-
Verify the camera module and parking aid systems have no separate DTCs.
-
Confirm the chime speaker or cluster sounder is functional.
-
7. After reinstalling a repaired ACM
-
Clear all ACM and related audio/network DTCs.
-
Perform any required module configuration or initialization using a factory-level scan tool if the vehicle calls for it.
-
Test all sources (radio, Bluetooth, AUX/USB), all speakers, steering wheel controls, and volume/seek knobs during a road test.
If power, ground, fuses, wiring, speakers, and other modules all check good and the original symptom remains, contact us with your test results so we can help determine the next step.
