This guide applies only if your rebuilt amplifier is still having issues after our repair service.
1. Confirm the Symptom
-
Ensure the radio is not muted.
-
Set balance/fader to center.
-
Test multiple audio sources (FM, CD, AUX/Bluetooth).
-
Identify if the issue is: no sound, distorted sound, one side not working, or sound cutting out.
2. Check Power, Ground, and Fuses
-
Verify all audio-related fuses inside the fuse box.
-
With the radio on, confirm:
-
Battery voltage at the amplifier power feed
-
Solid, clean ground
-
Remote/turn-on signal (should show 12V when the radio is on)
-
3. Inspect Amplifier Connectors & Wiring
-
The amplifier is typically mounted under a front seat.
-
Inspect both connectors for:
-
Corrosion or moisture damage
-
Bent, pushed-out, or burnt pins
-
Loose connectors or damaged locking tabs
-
-
Check wiring under the seat to ensure it hasn’t been pinched by seat movement.
4. Speaker & Channel Verification
-
If only certain speakers fail:
-
Check continuity in the speaker wiring from amp to speaker.
-
Swap a non-working speaker with a known-good one if possible.
-
-
If the speaker works when swapped, the issue is in wiring or the original speaker.
-
If wiring and speakers test good but the channel remains dead, the radio output may be the cause.
5. Head Unit / Radio Checks
-
If there is no sound at all:
-
Confirm the radio is powering on fully.
-
Verify the remote/turn-on wire from the radio is supplying 12V to the amplifier.
-
-
If an aftermarket radio was recently installed:
-
Recheck the wiring harness, especially remote-turn-on and audio signal lines.
-
A missing or weak turn-on signal will cause “no sound” even with a good amp.
-
6. Noise, Distortion, or Popping Sounds
-
Check for:
-
Poor or loose ground connections
-
Moisture under the seat
-
Damaged or shorted speaker wires
-
Blown or deteriorated speakers
-
-
Ensure the amplifier bracket is properly secured to clean metal to maintain a solid ground reference.
7. After All Checks
If:
-
Power and ground are good
-
Remote signal is correct
-
Fuses are good
-
Wiring and speakers pass testing
-
Head unit wiring is verified
…but the original audio symptom remains, please contact us with your findings. This helps us determine whether the issue is still amplifier-related or elsewhere in the vehicle.
