pump and control module need to be replaced?

I have a 2010 VW Jetta TDI. The dealer says my pump and control module need to be replaced at a cost of $4k. My car runs great, looks ok but has a salvage title and it's not worth having them do it. I'm a pretty good DIY guy and I came across your site for repairing modules. I've searched the internet and haven't found a good source on removal procedures for this model VW. The pump and block are tucked pretty deep along the passenger side front wheel and firewall. I can see how to remove the lines, but nothing else. Can you provide me with instructions to remove the module so I can send it to you?

My car is a TSI model but they share the same platform , I found a video on YouTube that shows how to remove it ; once you lossen up all the break lines and fittings and push them out of the way you can pretty much pull the whole assembly up which is held with some two pins on the bottom of this , once it has been removed you have to separate the pump from the module and send it out to UPFix in Atlanta ; it'll take a few days before you get it back and ready to be reattached to the pump , I had an issue with the rubber seals which I couldn't find nowhere but I decided to take a chance and reuse mine since they didn't look crack or lose. The good news is since is your same module you don't have to reprogram it but the fun part is getting all the air out of the brake system .
Good luck my friend .

You will need to remove the engine cover if it has one by pulling up carefully. Disconnect hose(s) holding the cover to the engine and/or front intake. I suggest removing the brake fluid from the reservoir first. The fluid will all drain out if you don’t. Remove the lines, I suggest marking them to assure they go in the correct location. I used masking tape with number and letter t for top and s for side. There is a slide on the plug that you have to pull up before removing the plug. Be careful it’s plastic. It needs to be over an inch up before the plug comes loose. There is one bolt holding down the pump on the side. Remove it and the pump will slide out towards the driver side of the car. Remove the module by removing the 4 screws. Can’t remember but they may be torx bits. Ship to UpFix. Replace in reverse order of removal. Be very careful not to cross thread the brake lines in the the pump. The housing is aluminum and will strip if not careful. Should be able to start by finger. This is the trickiest part of the whole process. Bleed the passenger front wheel followed by the driver front wheel then the rears. The abs system has individual lines from the pump to each wheel which means it takes more pumps of the brakes each wheel than non abs cars so be patient. There are plenty of videos on YouTube on brake bleeding the mkv Jetta. You will need to purchase a code reader to reset the codes. It must have abs code reading capabilities. I got this one of off eBay. Good luck!
