I recently bought an ABS module from a local junk yard. I own a 2001 Dodge Dakota, and the part I got it from was off a 2004 Dodge Dakota. It says that it is compatible, I wanted to have a backup while I waited to get my part fixed. I installed it and it works the same plus the ASB lights and brake light come on.. Does that mean it needs to be reset and it will work? my issue is it has a soft pedal problem. Thank you in advance.
Normally an EBCM will not cause a low brake pedal. It might be a combination HCU and EBCM issue. After we complete the repairs on the EBCM reinstall the module and complete a ABS bleed service then test drive the vehicle and see if there is a change in the brake pedal. If the brake pedal is the same I would recommend replacing the HCU.
