Toyota RAV4 ECU Re-Installation & Troubleshooting Guide | 42 Relevance | 3 years ago | Ernest | ECU Engine Computer Unit
Here are two simple procedures that will help you eliminate the cause of the problems that may occur when installing the ECU back into the vehicle. (01-03 Rav4, Picnic, Avensis. 4x4 – AWD & 4x2 – FWD) Procedure 1: There is a common issue with the connections on these models when reinstalled. The 5 white plugs that connect to the ECM are so tightly cut in length that these connectors tend to be too stretched when engaged and end up disconnecting partially from the ECM terminals even when the plastic part is still in place and looks well and engaged. Please make sure that all 5 connectors snap all the way in and also check that there are no wires backing up while you push the connectors in. Any single wire in any of the five connectors that backs up while any of the plugs are pushed in, will turn into an incomplete or intermittent connection. If that is the case, you may push that single wire or multiple wires to its place with a pin or any other pointed object. Also, make sure that there is no foreign material between any of the connectors and the terminals in the ECM they go connected. Dust or metallic debris, will either cause a poor connection or a short between one or more wires in that area. Finally, make sure that wires are not too stretched. Try to use the same path the wires had when installed from the factory. Otherwise, vibration from the vehicle will induce connection problems to the ECM in the long run. Symptoms: If the above happens, the vehicle will either have the same or similar symptoms as when the ECM was failing. Procedure 2: Your ECM was reprogrammed to go to relearn mode as soon as installed, which is an automatic process where the ECM attempts to relearn the proper shifting codes from the transmission in your vehicle while in use. Many vehicles work flawlessly as soon as a new or repaired ECM is installed; however, there are some others that will need to go through a longer relearn process to adapt to mechanical changes in the transmission. These mechanical changes are induced when the transmission suffers some wear while it is used with a failing ECM. If this is the case, all symptoms should have gone away, except for some hesitation when shifting to third gear. The relearn process should not take more than 15 minutes of driving the vehicle in normal cases, but it may last even up to a week in rare cases. The more the transmission wear, the more time it will take to complete this process. A relearn process that takes more than a day to finish, it will mean that the transmission has considerable wear. Please note that for the process to end, the vehicle should be driven normally. If it is turned on while parked, no changes will occur, as the transmission is not shifting while parked. Symptoms: All symptoms should have gone, except the hesitation while shifting into third gear
2002 Highlander need to repair the ECU/ECM unit | 30 Relevance | 3 years ago | Ricardo | ECU Engine Computer Unit
On my 2002 Highlander, I need to repaire the ECU/ECM unit. My technician has given me a quote of $1100.00 for the job.According to internet sources, the typical price of a secondhand ECU/ECM is roughly $200.00.Is this a straightforward installation, or is there more to it? That is, programming? I also noted that certain information on the ECU/ECM was programmed to your car keys. Is this the situation with the Highlander 2002? I am aware of the installation and placement requirements. I'm just curious whether I'm missing something significant. Can you also fi ...
2003 Audi A4 ECU rebuild | 20 Relevance | 3 years ago | Sara Greeley | ECU Engine Computer Unit
How much would it cost to rebuild the ECM/ECU in my 2003 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro? My mechanic just phoned to tell me that my ECM was damaged. He claimed to be able to "re-solder several joints" and fix the ECM. This is something I've never heard of. He charged me an extra $500 for this fix. Is what he's saying even possible? Is it a reasonable price, if so? Is it preferable to just buy an ECM from a junkyard and replace the entire thing? I need assistance right now because I'm short on funds and $800 is a bit much for a repair cost right now. And I need to get my automobile back. Thank you for your help, gentlemen!

2007 BMW 328 ECU codes P1782, P1727, P1771 and U0100. | 13 Relevance | 8 months ago | Jaxon | Programming & Cloning
The codes that are coming from car are P1782, P1727, P1771 and U0100. I am thinking the ECU needs to be repaired. How much would it cost to have the ECU fixed? Email Body The U0100 code is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates a loss of communication between a vehicle's Electronic Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and another module . This code is common in cars with automatic transmissions. The PCM and ECM are computers that manage the engine and powertrain, and communicate with each other and other modules via a data bus, usually known as the Controller Area Network (CAN). 2002 Infiniti G20 ECU DTC code P0325 | 13 Relevance | 1 year ago | Dallas M | ECU Engine Computer Unit
Do you have supplies on-hand to repair a 2002 Infiniti G20 Sport A/T (49-state, non-California) ECU with part number MEC22-613 A1 1X24 and DTC P0505? The mechanic has already replaced the IACV+sensor and TPS. I'd like to place an order today, send the ECU out tomorrow morning, and receive the repaired unit by Tuesday, do you think that's possible? If you need it, my VIN is JNKCP11A52T511239. The ECU also has the number 23710-6J118 on it, but this seems to be shared with other versions of the ECU which are not compatible. The car is in limp mode and Idle Air Learning never completes. Sometimes there is DTC code P0325, but only once in a while. Also, is there any reason I should upgrade the TCM firmware? Is the TCM separate from the ECM, or integrated? Attachment : 2002 Infiniti G20 ECU.jpg Attachment : 2002 Infiniti G20 ECU 1.jpg
Nissan/Infiniti (2000-2004) ECU | 11 Relevance | 3 years ago | Ernest | ECU Engine Computer Unit
Warning! – The idle Air Control Valve MUST be replaced prior to reinstalling this ECU or immediate damage to the ECU will occur and is NOT covered under warranty Idle Air Volume Learning is an operation to learn the idle air volume that keeps each engine within a specific range. It must be performed when the IACV-AAC valve, throttle body, or ECM is replaced Since ECU may revert to default settings it may be necessary to pair it to your car’s immobilizer with a scan tool or dealer Steps before the Procedure: Before performing “Idle Air Volume Learning”, make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied. Learning will be canceled if any of the following conditions are missed for even a moment. Battery voltage: More than 12.9v (At idle) Engine coolant temperature: 70-99°C (158-210°F) Transmission: A/T must be in PARK, M/T clutch must be depressed for the entire procedure Electric load switch: OFF (Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defroster) On vehicles equipped with daytime light systems, set the lighting switch to the 1st position to light only small lamps. Cooling fan motor: Not operating Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position) Vehicle speed: Stopped Transmission: Warmed-up (drive vehicle for 10 minutes) Procedure: Turn the ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 1 second. Turn the ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature Check that all items listed under the topic “PRE-CONDITIONING” are in good order Turn the ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds Start the engine and let it idle for at least 30 seconds Disconnect the throttle position sensor harness connector (brown), and then reconnect it within 5 seconds. (for M/T, this will require 2 people so that one can keep the clutch pedal depressed) Wait 20 seconds Make sure that idle speed is within specifications. If not, the result will be incomplete. In this case, find the cause of the problem by referring to the NOTE below Rev up the engine two or three times. Make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within specifications. ITEM SPECIFICATION: Idle speed M/T: 625±50 rpm (in “P” or “N” position) Ignition timing M/T: 15°±5° BTDC A/T: 15°±5° BTDC (in “P or “N” position) Troubleshooting If idle air volume learning cannot be performed successfully, proceed as follows: Check that the throttle valve is fully closed Check PCV valve operation Check that downstream of the throttle valve is free from air leakage Adjust the closed throttle position switch and reset the memory If any of the following conditions occur after the engine has started, eliminate the cause of the problem and perform “Idle air volume learning” all over again. Engine Stalls Erratic idle Blown fuses related to the IACV-AAC valve system NOTE: It’s always better to replace the IACV with the original OEM quality Nissan/Infiniti part. If you’re still getting a P0505 code or cannot complete the relearn procedure it may also be as a result of the non-OEM Nissan/Infiniti IACV part.
RE: 2016 Ford transit Ecm/Ecu codes | 9 Relevance | 3 years ago | Serge - UpFix Team | ECU Engine Computer Unit
We support the P0351 code and possibly the P2315 since those are ignition coil codes. If you've already checked/replaced the coil packs and spark plugs and confirmed they are in good working order, there very well might be an issue with this ECU. The other codes may be an internal ECU issue or it might be in the vehicle. I would recommend performing a hard battery reset first and seeing what codes are left.
